Produced in the north of England, Aesthetica offers a much-welcomed, non London-centric view of art, design, photography and general culture. The August/September issue leads with Dutch-Croatian artist Sanja Marušic, whose playful multimedia works combine photography, collage and painting to create ethereal scenes of figures situated within highly saturated landscapes. The issue also features a series of artists reconnecting with nature as a means of slowing down and creating room for greater introspection. These include Debora Lombardi, Kazuaki Koseki, Ashley Chappell, Terri Loewenthal, Neil Kryszak and Agnieszka Ostrowska. On the Journal:‘We look for ‘art’ in the broadest sense, featuring works that are both visually engaging and conceptually or culturally important. There are layers to the images and pieces that we publish, all with ties to a rapidly changing world, from the climate crisis to conversations around social justice’ – Kate Simpson, Associate editor.
