Founded in 1896, the AR has a proud tradition of challenge and criticism, scouring the globe for architecture that provokes and inspires, and relying on its immense archive and critically acclaimed writers to shape architectural discourse. Combine this with a rich history of contemporary editorial design and you have a magazine of interest beyond its natural architectural audience. The March 2024 issue recognises the architects and activists shortlisted for the W Awards, which spotlight women and non-binary people working in architectural practice and culture. Notable highlights include social justice advocate and educator Angela Davis, architect and social housing champion Iwona Buczkowska, and many others.
