Roots to Fruits

2

Created by Dutch designer Mirelle van Tulder (who also serves as MacGuffin's image researcher), each issue of the slender, Risograph-printed Roots to Fruits dedicates itself to exploring the role that a single form music or sonic practice plays in migration, culture and resistance, pairing a piece of writing with archival imagery.  Following the monochrome debut issue—which focussed on Highlife's role in creating a Ghanaian national identity—this second issue pops with rich Riso colour as it explores Champeta, ‘an Afro-Colombian music genre based on African rhythms, from which local producers create new sonic, visual and spatial practices’.   rootstofruits.info
