Founded in 1962 and instantly recognisable for its iconic square format (and —if it happens to be face down — Gallerie Bruno Bischofberger advert on the back), Artforum is one of the US’s leading contemporary art publications. In a continuation of their spotlighting of the contentious debate surrounding the relationship between aesthetics and identity, this issue emphasises the limitations placed upon artists self-expression ‘by larger forces at play beyond the borders of the art world'. Features include: ‘No Holds Barred—The Art of Barbara Degenevieve’; ‘Double Vision—“Andy Warhol: Velvet Rage and Beauty”’; ‘Spotlight—Larissa Fassler’, plus more.
