‘Reflections on design’ A newish design magazine from the people behind Port and edited by writer-curator Deyan Sudjic, you may remember Anima first popping up as a slick sister supplement to Port last autumn, coinciding with Milan's Salone del Mobile. It returns now as a standalone title, exploring ‘what things mean, as well as how they look’ twice a year. Following a silvery debut focussing on Milan's design heritage, the sophomore edition is a more global, but equally metallic affair, with gold accents and typography throughout. This issue covers the communicative power of pictograms (which look particularly pleasing in gold), a new publication on the design of Africa's sporting history, a behind the scenes look at some of Britain's nuclear power stations, a masterplan for the moon, a visual history of ‘the most used typeface’ Futura, plus a few more bits from Milan.
