Al Hayya

4

A bilingual (and double-sided) magazine from part of the team behind Safar Journal, Al Hayya grounds itself in ‘intersectional feminist resistance and transregional solidarity’, reporting on the work, interests and strife of woman in the context of Southwest Asia and North Africa. Their fourth issue marks ‘a reset for Al Hayya in tone, in mission, in reach.’ Visually, there's a shift too, marked by a slightly taller format and striking red covers, featuring renowned Palestinian revolutionary Leila Khaled on both sides—editor-in-chief Maya Moumne describes her rare and landmark interview inside as ‘without question, the most significant I have published in my editorial career.’ Elsewhere in the issue, themed ‘Dreams of Liberation’: the remnants of rail networks connecting Palestine, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan; photography capturing life in the occupied West Bank; a letter of solidarity from Kashmir; interviews with political scientist Françoise Vergès and producer/DJ Saliah; and a history of revolutionary political posters.  alhayyamagazine.com
